| ~ About the Castle Inn -
what we have - where & when - and things to do ~
As
well as welcoming travellers for drinks and refreshments, from a bowl of soup to
an informal 'Fireside
Dinner' in the heavily beamed Saloon
Bar. There is also a small, very individual,
Restaurant with waiter
service. Here Luncheon
is served from 12 noon with last orders at 2pm, and
Dinner
from 7pm with last orders at 9.30pm. Sunday
Lunch is an institution at the Castle Inn. Our opening
days may vary so always telephone us on 01892 870247 to verify.
If you're looking for a private room the delightful Streatfeild Room is part of, and yet completely separate from, the restaurant. Here we can accommodate dining parties and business meetings of up to twenty. Depending upon the nature of the group a charge of £45 might be made ~ each reservation is individually assessed so please ask for details.
The Bars are open all day, every day, from 10.30am for coffee and soft drinks - then 11am
to 11pm for alcoholic drinks Monday to Saturday. Sunday 11am for soft drinks and
coffee, then midday to 10.30pm. we offer a very comprehensive Bar
& Garden Menu all day until 6pm. Naturally a village
inn has Real Ales,
the most popular being Larkins,
which is brewed by Bob Dockerty in the village. There
is also a carefully selected Wine
List containing about 150 wines.
Behind the Inn is a pretty
vine-hung courtyard with its own
Garden Bar so you don't need to carry your drinks
through the building. Beyond that, and over a bridge, is a lawn with beautifully
tended flowerbeds. On sunny days refreshments may be enjoyed anywhere outside.
Children are welcome in the Restaurant, Saloon Bar, and
Garden, but may not be taken into the Public
Bar. It is assumed they will be properly supervised at all times. We
don't serve chips but we do have - high chairs,
bottle warmers, disposable bibs, and nappy changing facilities.
